Registration for the 2020 adult soccer league season is now open on the CSO website.  Registration closes January 24th and matches will begin in February at the downtown Columbus Soccer Complex.

The adult soccer is for any player over 19 years old at the time of registration.  “Last year we had players from 19 years old to over 50 years old” noted Tom Velek, CSO President. “It is a great chance to come out and play and enjoy a sport we all love.”  Players can register individually or they can indicate during the registration process that that they are registering with a team. All teams are co-ed.  The registration fee is $60 which includes player registration, all referee fees, team entry to the Friendly City Shootout in April, and all field set-up fees. Players and teams are responsible for purchasing and designing their own jersey.

CSO adult soccer is played using small-sided rules. Matches are held on a u12 sized field with seven players a side. Other modifications including open substitution, forbidding slide-tacking, and no offside makes the game more accessible to players of all ages and playing levels.  A complete list of rules can be found on the CSO Adult League webpage.

League play is typically on Sundays, but Velek pointed out that CSO works with the teams to accommodate schedules and other days and times are possible. In addition, this year the league may be divided into a “junior” and “senior” division based on average roster age.

Zachary’s restaurant is the official sponsor of the league. This sponsorship allows all registered players to receive 15% off food purchases at the restaurant.  Each registered player will be provided a discount card for use any time at Zachary’s.
